Yesterday I set up an appointment with a local midwife! She does her "rounds" on Saturdays so my first appointment will be this weekend. All the visits are done at my home and she only handles home deliveries for low risk pregnancies. Since this is my first check up (I know, 21 weeks is a little later than usual ;-) she will bring some forms for blood work and cultures that I will need to have done at a lab to prove that I am healthy and low risk, thus enabling her to take me on as a patient. I am not really worried about it, nothing about my pregnancy has been remotely unexpected. Everything has been completely, freakishly textbook. I think Margarite (the midwife) was actually laughing at me a little for being as laid back about it as I am. Apparently, "laid back" is not a term generally associated with first time mothers. Anyway, I'll keep you posted!

Lady's first trip to the beach went very well. I think she will definitely enjoy it more when we have a scorching hot Grenadian day as opposed to the slightly overcast and rainy day it turned out to be. Rain doesn't affect the temperature down here but the wind does make wet puppies think it's colder than it should be :-) Paul and I both had a dip and I think the activity will become more frequent the further along I get in the pregnancy.

Here is a shot of my foot after I fell down some stairs at my in-laws house over the holidays. I think I scared everybody more than I really did serious damage to myself. This was the worst of it. Paul says he thinks I may have fractured or broken something but mostly it was just a lot of bruising and tenderness. I also hit my elbow and hip but there aren't any shots of those (the elbow really wasn't that bad, and there is no way I am putting a shot of the other spot on the web ;-)
We took Lady for her first trip to the beach today. I will be posting about it later when Paul get's home with the camera and I can get them off the memory card. I thought you might like to see one of my attempts to capture the rainbow that frequently appears in front of our apartment. This one is not as brilliant as some but it's pretty anyway.

Here is my new family! That's me in the centre and my husband Paul in the top-right corner. Directly below Paul is his younger brother, David. The bottom-right corner is Bob Noel, my "new Grandpa". The bottom-centre is David and Mark on the top and Matt and Melissa sitting below. Bottom-left corner is Hannah. Left-centre is Emily. Top-left corner is Mom and Dad. Top-centre is Mom with all the dogs [Honey, Sugar, Brandi, and Kelsey (she's the Scottie)]. It was great to be able to see everyone over our break. Christmas was huge! Sssooo much fun!

Well, I finally figured out how to get this program back to a point where I can use it! YAY!! Sorry for such a lag in communication. Thanks to all of you that continued to email me anyway :-) We have been to Maryland and back for the holidays and pictures will follow of those things a little later. Our newest addition to the family (no I haven't had the baby yet, don't worry) is Lady, the beagle/springer spaniel mix puppy that we got for Christmas. I am sure you will see many shots of her, at least until the baby comes along and starts starring on the blogs :-)
