Bead Soup REVEAL Feb. 2011!!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party!

What is a Bead Soup Blog Party?
Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following:

~ A focal
~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw)
~ Some coordinating spacers or beads

Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not.

Here's what I made!

I called my piece "Getaway". It was going to be "day at the beach" or "I am sick of winter" but somehow that just didn't seem appropriate ;)

When I first saw Marianna's soup I have to say I LOVED all of it but had no idea how it would go together. I set myself the goal of using both focals if I could manage it and be happy with the outcome. Obviously, I did and I am. I also was happy that I got to satisfy my "fiber fetish" that I seem to be going through right now. Cord, silks and felt just seem to be attracting my attention like never before. I just ordered a large mixed bundle of sari silk that I can't wait to get my hands on. Anyway, the lavender leather cord seemed to add another dimension to the piece that I felt "kicked it up a notch".

Although I loved everything in the soup, I have to say I have a particular penchant for turquoise and and the HUGE rondelles Marianna sent were just begging to be seen and not heard, if you know what I mean. Does anyone else have beads that talk to them and are VERY opinionated?

Weird feeling

I just submitted my first piece of jewelry to be considered for publication. Whoa. I don't think I really expect it to be chosen although the hope is certainly there. I submitted a piece that is a favorite and some of my best/most innovative work. I came up with a component that I have never seen before anywhere so I am very happy with that. Mostly this was just an exercise in setting myself a goal and making a deadline and I achieved both things. I am going to call that success. If the piece gets chosen, it will be the very awesome thick layer of double chocolate frosting on the cake. Of course, I can't show you a picture so let me just remind you instead that Bead Soup starts tomorrow and leave you a picture of the soup I sent Marianna. Come back tomorrow to see the final pieces!

Sneaky Bead Soup peek.

Our Bead Soup reveal is coming up on Saturday. Here is a peek at my creation with the bead I got from my partner, Marianna. Click her button in my sidebar to see what she's up to!

BTW

I have been playing around with some Vintaj and it's in the honored place of my table right now. I am much happier with it than my other projects at the moment. Bead Soup Reveal starts on Saturday so I am trying to take pictures that I am happy with and it's NOT going well at all. I know I have to practice more at picture taking but I feel like I am wasting valuable time when I am forced to work with the camera. I guess I just need to change the way I think about the process but it is super hard for me. Anyway, things I AM happy about include the way these earrings turned out (Vintaj and fluorite) and the fact that I don't have to go to work tonight. Yay! Check out more BTW here and visit the creator Heather over at Humblebeads.

OWOH Winners!

Well, the ride has come to an end. Although, I for one still have plenty of blogs to visit so I will be dragging my fun out for a while yet! But here are the winners for my giveaway (chosen by random.org). Since I didn't specify how the prizes were to be allotted in my original post i have decided to give each winner their choice. You can do things like that when you make it all anyway :)! Congrats to:

I will attempt to contact each winner individually for shipping info!

One World One Heart 2011 (Scroll for new posts)

YAY!! OWOH is here again! Thanks to Lisa over at the Whimsical Bohemian for hosting this 5th and final grand event. Go visit The List of all the participants.

Last year was my first year and I had NO CLUE how big it would be. So this year I vowed to be better prepared! I will be giving away an item for every 100 comments I receive. I am putting up 3 item to begin with and if I end up with more than 300 comments then I'll add more items!

So without further ado here are the first 3 items that I will be giving away on February 17th.

Entering is easy just leave a comment on this post!

A little about me if you want to know:

I am a mother of 3 boys all under 5 years old. Yes, it's completely nuts at my house but it's also tons of love, laughter and living. It doesn't get much better than that! I design and create jewelry to keep me sane. I love color, high heels and pretty much anything that sparkles. I participate in OWOH because I find so many cool new bloggy friends to connect with and for me, life is all about the connections we make. Thanks for stopping by and connecting!
Enjoy the ride.

BTW

Some new canes and color combos. I feel spring coming on with this awesome weather we're having here in Colorado! Check out what's on other Bead Tables this Wednesday by going here.

457 pages of awesome.

So I received my first Rings & Things catalog in the mail about a week or so ago. Wow. Not only do they offer some great products at very reasonable prices (no, they are not paying me to say any of this) but I loved the way they showed some innovative ideas about what to do with some of those products. Let's just say that my collection of Vintaj now seems to have SO many more options that what I had originally thought! It is also a goal of mine this year to enter a couple contests so I think this one might be my very first. Wish me luck!

Happy Valentines...really.

We are having a heat wave of 55 degrees so we wrapped up and headed to the park for some fresh air. Hope you have a great day too!

Isaac and rhyming is going to kill me.

Isaac's most recent outburst.

Ike:"Door rhymes with whore!"

Mommy:"Yes it does honey but let's not use that word, ok? People might not understand what you are saying."

Ike: "What does whore mean mommy?

*much waffling and trying to dodge the question and distract done by mommy*

Ike: "Mommy, what does whore MEAN?!"

Mommy: "Its a lady that you pay to go on dates, honey. It's not nice."

Editorial note: I don't think "whore" was really intended so much as just another experiment with sound. But my brain didn't work that fast in the moment so now he actually realizes it is a "real" word. You can stop laughing at me and breathe now. :)
